Well…….Everybody will be happy to know that our Christmas tree is down and packed away. But amazingly, we are still eating glitter……. Lord help us all.
I actually love it when all of the Christmas stuff gets taken down and stored away. It’s like a fresh new start in my home for me. I see more potential in my home when it has all been cleared, cleaned and minimized, if that makes any sense at all. It is also the time of year when I take the opportunity to restyle a few areas. Today I want to share a few simple ideas in terms of styling our dining room for Winter.
Pinecones are my big goto this time of year.
BIG SHOCK, I know 🙂
These really big ones are Sugar pinecones that I got years ago at Hobby Lobby. Their size is really really impressive but they also add texture to a room that I find hard to work texture in to.
I found these olive plaid cloth napkins at Pier 1 of all places. I am not a big Pier 1 shopper but I went in to check out their clearance section and there they were, not on clearance but 25% off. We do not use a bright Christmas green in our home, but more of an olive green so these are perfect! They are not Christmas napkins but they worked well with all of the fresh greens that I brought in to the house in November and December.
For the table I just added Spruce pinecones to a silver platter and left the hurricane in place that I already had out. Then I added some French yogurt pots for tea lights and tarnished silver candlesticks.
Over on the dresser I simplified it by minimizing the amount of stuff on it. I also swapped out the pine wreath for a wood twig one that I found at Hobby Lobby years ago.
The cream colored crock is actually a plant pot.
I love the subtle raised rooster and those sweet little handles 🙂
Just simple stuff really.
Simple stuff that makes me smile 🙂
In other news Santa brought me some new penguin feety pajamas.
Good thing since the rear end of these was just about gone.
So I washed the red ones up, folded them neatly and said a words over them. On Thursday they will be on their way to their final resting place.
Moment of silence please…….
