Until yesterday it had been two whole months since I had even picked up a paintbrush. In all honesty we had been so busy with Big Daddy’s surgery , my back/ hip and the holidays that it had hardly crossed my mind. But when it did cross my mind I was instantly anxious. Like really anxious. And a few days later I was scared as hell. A million things were running through my crazy little head, the biggest one was that I had just lost interest in painting. So last Thursday night as Big Daddy and I were getting in to bed I softly and calmly voiced this concern. In turn Big Daddy spoke to me just as softly and reassured me that this crazy ride was not over for me.
He’s a sweet talker, that one.
So the very next day…….
The ad for this pub table pops up on Facebook Marketplace and I did my Snoopy dance!
Those legs, sweet Lord those legs!!!! I could not send the seller a message fast enough to see if those legs were still available. Then came those two words that we have all come to despise:
pending pickup
This phrase makes me nuts. So I thanked her, went off to sulk for a bit and went on with my day. That evening I had been in my feety pajamas for a few minutes when she messaged me again and said the person who was supposed to take it was a no-show 🙂
And just like that my worries were over.
This is one odd table.
I certainly have not seen one like it. It has two pullout leaves that extend this thing to 60 inches. So since it was 60 degrees outside today I sanded the top off and stained it with my very favorite color to use on oak, Dark Walnut.
See my Macman?
The details on this one are just so cool!
I love this one and I would love to keep it. Big Daddy really likes it as well so we will see what happens. I still have two leaves to sand and stain so we will see. For now it is in our kitchen with a kitten asleep in each chair.
That is Lily’s rear end :)))
So running down the process, I sanded the old finish off and re stained it with Minwax Special Walnut. I am still on the fence about a sealer so I will let ya’ll know about that. I used General Finishes Bone White and it took two good coats to cover plus touchups. I have already done a bit of distressing on this one and if we keep it I bet I will do some more , especially on those curvy legs!
Thanks for stopping by:)

Paige, I have one EXACTLY like that, except mine still has the oak veneer on (most) of the top ! How is the top attached to the bottom? Mine came in 3 or 4 pieces from the thrift store, so I have no idea how it was attached. I absolutely love the legs on this table. You did a great job painting it. I’m thinking about doing mine, but I love the oak legs so much. Thanks for showing it. grace

Lord Grace what are the odds?? I can tell you that mine has a wooden cleat in the middle of the back of the top that fits in to a slotted board that runs across the middle of the base. We haven’t even begun to see how those leaves work. If you would meessage me on Southern Curated Facebook page I can let you know more later.

Looks great! I love the size of it and the fact that it has leaves to make it bigger. Definitely a keeper!

I love the detail on the top the planks surrounded by a frame. It’s a bit like your coffee table (which I love!). Painting those legs in Bone really makes them pop – excellent idea. I love to see pictures with Lily and Mac! The problem is, as soon as I see those little faces, I lose all track of what you are writing about !!!

Kristine you should see what it’s like to live with theses two fuzzy butts! They are nuts🙈
