********* Beer And A Lawn Chair Post Alert *******
Ask anyone who knows me black and white is my favorite……… anything.
Fact.
Over the last almost 30 years our homes have been a multitude of colors. I am not kidding. My first two kitchens were pink. And I loved them!!! But I got tired of both pretty fast. The only color combo I have never gotten tired of is in fact black & white. With painted furniture I have come to realize when I am unsure what color to paint a piece it is always a good bet to go black or white…… or both.
Today’s victim:
Ya’ll.
This just might be the crappiest before photo I have ever put up on this blog.
I just get so excited about a piece that I just jump in to a project with both feet….
I picked this vanity up at my neighborhood Goodwill for $45. Now that is kind steep for me but it came with a stool as well plus it is pretty unique so I didn’t agonize over it at all.
I quickly grabbed my half of the tag and went straight up to the checkout and it was mine. They do not appear to be a matched set. The stool is much older. Either way I was really excited that they were a package deal.
She’ a mess this girl :)))
I have said this before but there is no black like Lamp Black.
It in a league all its own. It immediately transforms anything it touches. Kinda like a bit of castoff furniture’s proverbial Little Black Dress.
The top in my Old Standby, Minwax Dark Walnut stain sealed with Annie Sloan clear wax. That center piece is just gorgeous! Painting that would have been some kinda sin. It took me less that 15 minuted to sand what was left of the old finish off and less than that to apply the new stain with a link free shop towel. It is so worth that little bit of effort y’all! Plus I just love the contrast of a painted body with a natural top and I think it wares better
Y’all Hobby Lobby had a gob of new knobs! I knew I wanted white when I went in the store and these were my favorites. I swear I try to avoid that place unless the knobs are 50% off.
That gorgeous silver and perl ring was a gift Christmas gift from Big Daddy.
This Fabric has been in my hoard for a while now. I don’t have a lot of it so I was really waiting for just the right project to use this beautiful toile just.
I’m pretty sure I found it!

When I saw the picture of the stool upside down, I actually said out loud “those legs!” Now you’re turning ME into a leg-girl! And when did Miss Lily get so big ?? She is simply gorgeous! The vanity turned out beautifully, and the two pieces really look like they belong together!!!

Visiting from the Silver Pennies party and just had to pop over to take a closer look. Such a stunning makeover! It’s gorgeous painted black and I love it paired with the dark stained top. The fabric on the seat just ties it all together beautifully. Well done!

You did such a beautiful job!! It’s so pretty.
My grandmother owned a similar piece of furniture. Only her’s had a mirror attached to it. So your’s is probably almost an antique if it was built around the same time as my grandmother’s!
