Six years ago when I very first started to sell my painted pieces I drug home all manners of wooden furniture. I had the unrealistic fear that my part of the world would run out of good junk for me to paint. Like crazy unrealistic. I have read other bloggers say the same which makes me feel a tad more normal. I have also come to the conclusion that anyone that loves the direction their life is going never wants that particular lifestyle to end. I feel very blessed to still be as much in love with my little company and all the aspects of it as I ever was: design, refinishing, painting , textiles. So once again I have told y’all all this to tell you something else. Back when I first started if it was wood? It was in my Jeep headed to my garage. Pretty quickly though I adopted this philosophy that I wanted to only rehab a piece of furniture to my own taste. In other words if I get stuck with a dresser because it didn’t sell, I want it to fit right in my home. And if I am being honest?
Best epiphany I have had lately.
So when I am out and about looking for pieces to paint the first thing that I keep in mind is this: Do I have all of my staples in my shop currently? Or do I need to replace any? My list of staples are dressers, desks, 4-6 top dining tables, interesting end tables, lamps , pillows. These are not just the pieces that sell really well. They are the pieces that I really love to paint. The next thing that I keep my green eyes open for (in my price range of course ) is unusual pieces.
Today’s piece is an unusual one for sure:)
How cute is this thing, I ask ya’ll?
When I very first saw this piece you know my eyes went straight to those sweet little legs! Personally I have never seen anything like it. I am assuming it is a sewing cabinet. Feel free to chime in if you can tell me anything about this one. Even though I have done a lot of white lately I felt like simple was the way to go on this one.
I went kinda crazy with the sanding sponge on this piece. Well crazy for me anyway. It has been a while since I distressed anything this much.
Personally I think this would make a darling bedside table.
There is room for a small lamp and lots of storage under those flaps.
I am really excited to take it down to the shop :)))
