It has been a cold, windy and wintry weekend here in Western North Carolina. Now normally I love a good wintry weekend but I really needed sunny and at least 50 degrees to sand three or four tops off of three or four pieces of furniture. Alas, it was not to be plus I felt pretty good so I decided to spend Saturday morning hitting some thrift stores :). Surprisingly I found all kinda stuff! You gotta love a morning like that:)). At my very last stop, where I left a matching pair of great side tables that I probably will regret for the rest of my life I walked past a big rack of women’s sweaters and this caught my eye……
This really cute Gap lambs wool sweater was $3.99.
It is tiny, like teenager tiny. So there was no wearing it. In my case there was no leaving it behind either, it was all up in my color palette. So home with me it went.
And you better believe my gears were turning all the way home.
This is what it’s like around here.
Anything new comes through that front door they have to molest for 30 minutes.
When I got home I rummaged around in my Not In The Current Rotation pillow stash and found a lumbar pillow that I thought might fit this tiny sweater.
Perfect fit.
For the next hour I alternated between fighting the kittens for the kitchen table and making myself a sweater pillow. While I still had the pillow form inside the sweater I took a needle and some thread that matched the sweater and whipstitched the bottom of it closed. Next I cut those arms and the hood off and sticked those closed as well . It is important to say at this point that Tiger Lily slept on the sweater pillow the entire time I worked on it. I just kept changing chairs so as not to wake her up.
Lord……
Looks really nice on my couch ………. but I am still kicking my own butt over those great side tables.
I’m calling them first thing in the morning

Years ago I found a very similar Christopher Banks sweater at Goodwill. I LOVED that sweater, Kept sewing the worn spots back together. I thought abut making a pillow but there wasn’t enough un-stitched fabric. I finally threw it away last month. Saved the leather buttons though.
Love your sweet pillow.

This is genius – I would have never thought to use a sweater for a pillow, but you nailed it!! And it does fit right in with your colors, just adding lots of nice cozy texture!!!

Here I am again, LOL visiting from the Finding Silver Pennies party. Love the sweater you chose for your sweater pillow! It’s all about the details and this one has lots of character and charm. 🙂 Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
