I’m pretty sure I mentioned my local Habitat Restore’s twice a year Customer Appreciation Day that happened a few weeks ago. That was a mucho interesting day. My entire Junk Lunatic Year revolves around these two and two other events. I know what ya’ll are thinking right now and I totally own it :))). So on that Saturday morning I was up and out the door at 7 bells. I pointed my Jeep in the direction of South and went straight to Breuggers Bagels in Biltmore Village where I fueled up on hazelnut coffee and a cinnamon sugar bagel. It was drizzling rain when I pulled in to the Habitat lot so I spent the next 15 minutes waiting patiently under an interstate overpass, thinking my Mama had warned me I’d end up like this……When those doors opened I shot straight through the hardware area straight up the stairs to the furniture department where I almost immediately hit the jackpot in the form of a beat up antique china cabinet and the afore blogged about drum table. At this point in time I was pretty fat and happy with those two pieces so with the china cabinet loaded with not a millimeter to spare in my Jeep I lit out for home praying to God that a couple of neighbors would be at home to help me unload it. Now remember that Big Daddy is unable to walk so my butt would have been in a big old sling had the neighbors not been home and come to my rescue. But luck was with me that day and pretty soon I was off to get that drum table. So when I made my second entrance at the Restore I was no longer running on an adrenaline rush. I was walking like a girl who had just placed an antique china cabinet in her Hell Hole of a garage and was mulling over what color to paint it as she walked past the area where they kept the less than perfect pieces of furniture. In layman’s terms ……..cool as a cucumber.
So cool infact that I almost tripped over this and just about busted my own rear end.
I do not want ya’ll to think that I am any less goofy that I actually am.
Ya’ll this beat up dresser turned out to be cedar lined :))))
And at $21.75 with cool hardware already on it I felt like I could make something of this piece.
You tell me?
The top was a mess but a good sanding took care of most of it and the dark walnut stain did the rest.
I’m pretty sure Hepplewhite pulls are my favorite, especially when all of the bails are there 🙂
Nice curves on this one.
I did have a bit of help with this dresser……….
They are growing too fast.
Whoever coined the phrase, like herding cats to describe chaos was spot on. You can not even go to the bathroom in peace in this house with these two wild hyenas.
Enjoy your weekend!

I love your furniture refinishes! I copy you blatantly! But I also love you sharing your life with us…your successes as well as insecurities! Though we will never meet, you constantly enrich my life and are much appreciated!

Oh Leah thank you! Your comments are precious to me. Big Daddy always says that I write exactly the way I talk which is goofy and brutally honest about myself 🙂

A lovely rescue. I had to laugh when you said your hellhole of a garage. I guess that is a good description of most DIY bloggers garage. Happy Thanksgiving.

Gosh.. I am behind and need to catch up!! This piece is beautiful; the gray gives it a sense of quiet dignity. But then when you mix in your 2 little busy beavers, it’s homey and classic all a once. That little Mac is too much!!
