Last week I made mention of a dresser that I had out in the garage. I referred to said dresser as a beater. Just so we are clear, the Urban Dictionary defines beater as a piece of junk or messed up. Ya’ll, this thing was mad messed up………
And I dragged it home anyway. Go figure.
I know it looks OK.
I thought so as well. But the second you breathe on it, it flys all to pieces.
Literally.
But at $25 I decided to take the chance.
I brought this dresser home in March and there it has sat in The Hell Hole ever since. So when I painted our last old dresser that sat in the living room I knew I was going to have to get Big Daddy to help me with this one 🙂 Turns out the dresser needed extensive repairs. Big Daddy put all the parts back where they belonged , glued them back in and added a few screws to keep them there. He also replaced a couple of the drawer runners and put a new back on it:))))
See that pretty new back?
Yet another way that I know he likes me. It’s still not perfect but it is way better that it was and I am just fine with that. So I have been changing up a few things in our living room and I was thinking a darker painted piece might look good in the room.
So what do you think now?
I am really enamored with this color combination:
Dark top dark gray body cream knobs
The top was refinished and stained with Dark Walnut and sealed with Annie Sloan Clear Wax.
Big Daddy was pretty skeptical about the dresser swap.
He really likes things to stay the same.. You can imagine what his life is like living with me. In this particular case he was very happy with the results. So am I. I really never liked the fact that the last dresser sat pretty flat on the floor, thus the 45 dust bunnies I vacuumed up when we moved it. This dresser’s legs are simple but perfect to me.
The cream ceramic knobs came from Hobby Lobby, $2 each at 50% off. You can’r really appreciate it in these photos but they have a crackle finish.
We are on Hurricane Watch around here and I do not mean the paint color. We live in the wood so we are always on high alert when the wind blows hard. Our good friends the Garrett’s live in Wilmington on the sound. This storm scares me to death for them. They know they have a place to run to though:)

Thank you Kristine. It’s looking better for the moment. 14 years ago during hurricane Ivan we took a 120 ft oak tree through our bedroom ceiling. We just knew that was coming and we were on an air mattress in the living room floor. So needless to say we are a little punchy right now 🙈
