Ya’ll I love me some Dollar Tree.
I can spend an hour in that store before I know it. Big Daddy thinks I am crazy but I love to scope out the Dollar Trees when we are out of town also. Same thing with Walmart. Go figure:)
The glue and gift wrap are irrelevant. This is an old photo because I forgot to take a before photo.
So I was out in The Hell Hole last weekend (where I spend most of my time when I am off) and came across a stack of these gold plastic charges that I had gotten last November or December. The project I had in mind for them escapes me at the moment but I can promise you I was not planning to leave them gold. I have been playing around with a few Fall element in our home for a few days and I decided to give theses guys an easy make over.
If you recall I have recently painted two big pieces with my new favorite gray chalk style paint, Dixie Belle Hurricane. I had a tiny bit left over so I swiped some on to one the these gold plastic Dollar Store chargers…….and it was ON.
Cant you blame me?
It is such a lovely color 🙂
The brown salad plates were a Goodwill find at a buck each. I was able to find seven of them scattered about the shelves. The napkins I have had for a while but they came form Old Time Pottery. The gray in them is not at all blue and matches the Hurricane very well. The Mikasa dinner plates were given to me by a dear friend. Now our everyday tableware is a Mikasa knockoff in pure white. The actual Mikasa Italian Countryside plates are cream.
I gotta tell y’all this cream and gray is really growing on me 🙂
Just a glimpse of the China cabinet 🙂
More to come!

I like what you did to the chargers. I have spray painted chargers, sponge painted over them, but not chalk painted. I love the colour and texture of the salad plates too.

I also like the cream and gray… it’s quiet and elegant without being pretentious. (I have no idea why I assign personality characteristics to inanimate objects.) And I especially love it against your hutch with all the dishes and ceramics! But, I have to tell you, my hands-down, most favorite fall table you have ever done is the Simple Subtle Fall Table you did last September with the black & white buffalo check runner, magnolia leaves in the center and pears on the plates. I just love it!

You are so sweet Kristine! I really think simple and subtle go a long way.

Oh my goodness they look awesome! I would love for you to share tomorrow at Thursday Favorite Things! The party goes live at 9:00 a.m. est at https://followtheyellowbrickhome.com
I am sort of obsessed with Dollar Tree. I go in there and give myself the challenge of what can I find that I can give a classy looking makeover. It’s fun!
I am borrowing this idea and will link back to you if I share my charger makeovers in a post!

Those brown plates are fabulous.
Are there any markings on the back perhaps?
