We have an expression in this house.
When we are about to tell a lengthy story we always say, ‘You might want to get a beer and a lawn chair for this.’
You are gonna need them both for this one 🙂
Last week I found an ad on Facebook Marketplace for a pair of French Provincial end tables.
Low and behold they were actually in my price range! And get this, the guy said he would deliver them to me for free.
Now I love me some French furniture.
French pulls? Not so much.
When I got these two tables home where I could inspect them more closely I was very pleased to find that they were in really great shape. I did have to stew on what color I wanted to paint these. I had been itching to try a new paint color for several weeks so straight to Pinterest I went and just typed painted end tables in to the search box. I do this all the time. It allows me to see a large variety of paint colors and brands.
Enter Dixie Belle paint:
Stormy Seas is a blueish gray with a bit of green in it. I just kept running across beautiful pieces of furniture on Pinterest painted in this really beautiful color. There’s a small antiques mall right by my neighborhood that I have popped in a time or two. Located within that mall is a booth that sell Dixie Belle paint. Once I knew that bit of usefully information I was a Nut on a mission. The mall closes at 5pm so I asked Big Daddy if he would swing by there and pick me up a 16oz container of Stormy Seas. It was absolutely hilarious to here him say, ‘With all them colors I can definitely see how you could go crazy buying ’em up!’
Big Daddy is crappin’ ya’ll negative .
Those colors ya’ll………
Now I really truly make a B-line to the Scandinavian colors but Lord the bright vibrant colors in this Dixie Belle line! There is one called Peony, a bright hot pink and I am DYING to try it!
Here are my first pieces painted in Dixie Belle paint. They will not be my last 🙂
I took the pair down to my shop this morning and Bid Daddy was pitching a duck fit as I was headed out the door. He loves these French Provincial end tables and apparently he thinks they are the only ones left on the face of this earth. He was beside himself that I was actually taking them away.
Bless his big heart 🙂
They do look quite lovely in my living room though 🙂
Back to the paint.
For anyone else it is a one coat paint. It goes on smoothly and self levels, leaving very few brush marks. The coverage is great and a little of this paint goes a long way. All good things in my paint book.
I sanded and refinished those tops with Annie Sloan Dark wax. I make the decision to paint instead refinish the curvy edge on the tops and I am really glad I did. I love that contrast.
I filled and sanded down the old hardware holes and dug through my knob ad pull hoard until I found these bails. I striped them off of an old, probably rat chewed chest of drawers me and my friend Wendy pick up off the curb near UNCA. In my defense I did not see the rat marks till we got it home and started taking out these drawers. I was totally worth the hardware though!
Thank ya’ll for stopping by!
