I really don’t post a lot of personal stuff on here.
Mostly I post furniture makeovers, DIY projects and inexpensive ways to make your house a home. Today I want to share something pretty personal and important to Me and Big Daddy. We have no children. We really never wanted any so it worked out. We have four nephews and two nieces and they are a big part of our lives. We love animals and have had lots pets over the last 30 years, all rescues. Our conscience tells us that that’s the way to go. Last November we lost our cat Sasha at nearly 16 years old and then Emmitt less than two months ago at 14 years old. This one nearly broke us both, loosing two too close together. We structure our entire lives around our fur babies. We feel strongly that if you are gonna have ’em that’s the way it should be. I love Big Daddy more than I ever thought I would love anther human and he me but this house was so damn quiet. We were bordering on miserable. So….. we made a very casual visit to the animal shelter:)
We named her Tiger Lily.
She is a very tiny brown and black spotty. She weighed just over two pound when we brought her home and she is the sweetest thing in the world !
This house is no longer quite.
In fact it is a Nut House. It has been almost 14 years since we’ve had a kitten in the bed with us and she is hilarious! Everything is amazing to her, everything is a game. She has filled a huge hole in us and we hope she loves the home we have given her.
She prefers to sleep like this, either around my neck or on my shoulder :)))
She thinks Big Daddy’s beard is just for her.
So there will be lots of Lily pictures in this blog’s future 🙂

I KNEW this day was coming…!! I KNEW you couldn’t wait too long until another little love-bug came into your lives. She is gorgeous, totally adorable and I cannot wait to watch her grow up!! Daily posts about her would not be too much!! You have a picture of Emmitt on your blog curled up on your shoulder just like she is….. So happy this sweet girl found such an amazing home and family to be a part of.

I know you must be over the moon with sweet Tiger Lily! I know that she will fill your home with lots of purrrrrssss, kitty kisses, laughter and love. I can say that I never dreamed my heart could be full of love again after we lost our Maggie Mae but Clarice came into my life and turned it all upside down. Wishing you and Tiger Lily a long lifetime of making special Mommy and Me moments like her favorite sleeping spot.

She is adorable! All of our pets have been rescues of some sort, either from a shelter, a found outside and no one claimed, or a friend of a friend. We lost our “original” family animals (2 cats, 1 dog) all within 3 years of each other. All had wonderfully long lives with us (18, 14, 12) and my heart was broken for such a long time. I vowed no more, never again, and yet we adopted another kitty, and 2 more dogs. Unfortunately our kitty was only 6 when diagnosed with lymphoma so we lost her after only 5 years. My son is home from the Army with his baby (almost 3yrs puppy) so our house is full of love, noise and dirt and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
PS. I love your blog, you have inspired me in many a project!

She is beautiful and so cute! So glad for you both, as the proud mom of too many cats to count over 4 decades and all special, many sweet tabbies like Lily. I currently have the last of a long line of siblings and related kitties who I’ve had since he was born and still with me at 18 years, but I know this won’t be forever. I can’t remember ever being without a kitty in my life, and sometimes many at one time when I had some land, but I know I will need to take a break eventually so I can travel a bit more. Then I will fine another sweet face (or two) that I won’t be able to resist – maybe siblings – who need a home, but more likely they will find me.
All the best to you and Big Daddy and little Lily – may she bring you lots more years of kitty joy in your lives!

She is precilus! We lost three of our cars all within a year, ages 16 to 20. It was one of the most difficult times for us so I understand your loss! We have two senior dachshunds and have decided to wait to adopt more cats. We miss having them so much. I bet that kitten has livened up the house bunches! CONGRATULATIONS on the adoption and the addition to your family!!
