It is hard for me to pass up a good deal on a solid wood piece of furniture…….or really good Mexican food.
Seriously. On both counts.
But there are a handful of things that I will literally break my neck to keep in my shop. Staples let’s call them. These are the pieces of furniture that sell the best for me. In addition I personally feel like they are also the most versatile.
Buffets
A buffet is without a doubt the best selling item in my shop.
It is also probably the easiest thing to paint because they are all legs! But here’s the goocher, they are the hardest to find in my price range. In terms of a buy in? My top dollar currently is eighty bucks. And it better be a buffet. Looking back I have only painted these in two colors: some shade of white and some shade of blue. I am not at all kidding.
Ain’t that crazy?
Desks
To me theses antique desks are really versatile .
Maybe that’s why they fly out of my shop. They make great sofa tables, dressing tables or even small buffets.
Dining Tables
Here’s an interesting fact about dining tables and my shop. The tables themselves sell fast. Table with chairs sell much slower. The French Provincial table above was the largest one that I have ever refinished, seating 6-8. It was also the most expensive at $210. It lasted 3 days down at the shop.
Dressers
Anything with drawers sells well but a multi drawer dresser you can use for a lot things in addition to holding your folded clothes. The color I choose to paint them is key though. As long as the color is fairly neutral and the price is under $240 they do not last long.
Lastly?
Matching pairs of side tab;es
I am going to preface this one my saying that I do not find these in my budget very often at all.
So that’s it.
If you’ve ever thought about renting yourself a booth in a multi vender space I’m pretty sure I just made your inventory list for you. Just watch your buy in price and pick you colors carefully!

I loved going through these pictures! Even though I have been wandering around your blog, for a while, some of these I have not seen. My favorite pieces (not just yours, but in general) are buffets – they are so unique and charming! Your approach to these pieces is where the magic is. You let the piece just be itself, and handle it with restraint. All of these have a sort of simple beauty; they are classic and timeless.
