Believe it not I have turned out two big dining tables in the last 10 days and nobody is more surprised than me. The first sold in three days and the last one sold in three hours. Fact. They both sold so fast that I never got the chance to style them properly but I would like to share them with y’all anyway
The first table was somewhat of a milestone for me. It is the very first French Provincial dining table that I have refinished and also the largest one as it seats 6-8.
Here’s the top before I sanded off that old finish.
Now after
It really surprised me that the wood used on the edge was pine and the top was mahogany. Never had that happen before. I fell in love with this table in the ad on Facebook Marketplace.
The curves are so pretty especially the feet!
I painted the apron and legs in General Finishes Bone White and stained the top in Minwax Special Walnut stain. After 24 hours drying time I sealed that top with GF Gel Topcoat. I love how it turned out.
This ain’t my last French table by a long shot!
The second table was also a FB Market place find……. also with great legs 🙂
That top was a wreck!
The nice lady who sold it to me said her 6 year old used it for a craft table. I cleaned all the grime off with hot water and a soapy rag and painted those pretty leg and the apron of the table top with Annie Sloan Duck Egg. To be honest it has been a long time since I’ve used Annie Sloan paint and I have missed it. It absolutely lives up to the hype and there is no other color like Duck Egg!
This is the one that sold in three hours.
I was at my day job when they called from my shop to tell me that it had sold and I swear I got a little light headed. It is a nice table , seats six and the top is so pretty.
So long story short?
My shop is naked. I gotta buckle down the weekend and paint my butt off:))
Hope ya’ll’s week is good !

Both lovely tables and nice work, as always. I was particularly stuck by the farm table because I have one very similar, only the legs on mine are already painted white, so I’ll probably leave them alone, but the faux butcher block top took quite a beating from the kids in the family from whom I purchased it (for a pittance, fortunately), so I’m planning to refinish that (darker, probably). Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Leslie!
They sand down great and take stain really well. I got mine for $22 🙂

The tables came out great and you have inspired me to tackle my own kitchen table – which I love, but the wood is a bit too orangey for me now that I use mostly whites & greys.

You can do it Liz!
