Lord…….I have waited a really long time for one of these !
Well for one of these in my price range, if I am being really fair.
Ya’ll I drove all the way to Gastonia for this and it was 100% worth it!
I was so excited I could not stand myself.
I never even once considered any other color besides Annie Sloan Duck Egg for this piece. My good friend and across the street neighbor Wendy who is also a furniture painter walked in my back door and said, ‘That was the right color!’ I really felt that one in my heart. It just had to be Duck Egg …….or die, as big Daddy would say:)
Those legs :O
Details like those are what made me nuts over 1920’s furniture.
I painted this china cabinet in two coats of AS Duck Egg chalk paint and then went over the entire piece with a very fine sanding sponge until to was smooth as silk. Then I took a medium sanding sponge and hit every last detail.
I never use glass knobs but this one was the original and I think she wears it well, kinda like a cocktail ring maybe.
The glass is the original wavy kind and it is in really great shape.
I think the detail below is my very favorite thing about the entire piece
It was honestly well worth the wait and the drive to Gastonia.

She\’s a stunner alright! I actually have never seen a cabinet that looks like that. So incredibly unique, and yes, Duck Egg was the perfect color.
I always wonder about the history of pieces like this…who the owners were, what was their house and their life like? How did they acquire it, and how did they use it….?

I love this! I’ve always been intimidated by Duck Egg, but it looks fantastic here! Great job!

She turned out great! We have a piece very similar to yours that was passed to us from hubby’s grandmother. Ours doesn’t have the windows in the sides. I plan to paint ours too for a bedroom. Glad to see that yours turned out so pretty!

Oooh! It’s English! My sister-in-law and I picked up a piece at the local dump in Sawtry, Cambridgeshire, England in 2005 when she was taking over something. She bought almost an exact copy for Ł5.00!!! About $8.00 US at the time. Yours originally had curvy inside pieces that would have sat behind the front door’s wavy glass. Bummer they aren’t still there but of course now yours has a modern feel! 🙂
Happy painting! I’ve been doing the same this week. Really enjoying how AS chalk paint goes on and stays wet long enough to work it.
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
