Last Friday in the middle of a downpour my Dad and I were eating lunch at our favorite joint. You know the kind, amazing piled high nachos, really good BIG burgers and cold beer. My Dad is always very inquisitive about my company. He always wants to know what I am currently working on and what pieces have moved this month down at my shop. The small town we were having lunch in has an abnormal abundance of thrift stores so I asked my Dad if he would mind being bit late for his usual 2:00 nap.
<Big grin on his face & mine>
I came home this:
It is a pine sofa table, kinda orange, kinda on the smallish side but with these leaves extended it’s the perfect size for two people to eat at.
Remember the pillows I shared a couple days ago ?
I was sort of in a rut color wise so I used the colors in this fabric as my inspiration. I love the watercolor effect of this fabric especially the blues and greens.
I chose General Finishes Charleston Blue chalk paint for the table’s legs and apron on this project. It is a Summery blue with a touch of green. It is a soft color without actually being dainty.
If that makes any sense at all.
The top of the pine table I sanded and refinished with Dark Wax.
This is the second table in a row that I had to sand and refinish twice! Here’s to the end of that streak, right now! I used a new to me one step product and it looked awful. The jury is still out on who’s fault that was, mine or the new product’s.
I found these canvas parsons chair slipcovers on Walmart’s website.
There were $19.99 each and shipped from Hayneedle for free. The quality is amazing for that price. They are canvas, heavy canvas at that making them hang perfectly. Half my house is slipcovered and I thank God for them. Anything my cat can puke technicolor on and it goes in the washer and comes out looking great is perfect in this house! Unfortunately, I can’t find them anymore on either website. I am including a link to similar ones at the bottom of this post.
I hate it when that happens:((
I really love how this pine top turned out 🙂
I am stone cold in love with this paint color:))). In the words of Big Daddy, ‘Y’all better name it and make friends with it ’cause that @#$! ain’t goin’ nowhere.
I’m thinking I will be using it a lot.

The Charleston Blue looks so beautiful against the waxed wood…or is it vice versa?? I have been wandering around here for the past few days, and am finally feeling courageous enough to try my hand at painting a few pieces of furniture. Sailor grumbles that I make him get involved in my projects, and if I leave him out, grumbles that I should have asked him for help first. Can’t really win here. I am excited to try this new fun thing, that promises to boost the cozy factor in our home.
