Ever see a huge pile of junk in a picture on Facebook Marketplace and zero in with laser sharp focus on the one piece you have been waiting on for years just barely peeking out from a ton of other crap???
Anyone? Anyone?
Bueller?
I do.
All the time.
Drives Big Daddy up a wall 🙂
These lovely little legs were what I spotted under all of that other stuff.
They were attached to a cedar lined blanket chest :)))
The top had issues and I didn’t even care.
In my crazy little head that is character y’all.
Believe it or not I had this thing for over a week before I decided what color I wanted to paint it. The last one of these that I redid I painted red. I kid y’all not. I am here to tell ya’ll that RED is the absolute devil. Red it the absolute hardest color on God’s green earth to paint. I have no plans to try that stuff again ever. Five coats and I still wasn’t happy…….
The quilt was made by my Great Grandmother.
I love that top, warts and all!
I used General Finishes Bone White milk Paint on the chest. It has fast become my favorite white. It took three coats to get the coverage I wanted and then I sanded the entire body with a medium grit sanding sponge and distressed the edges and high spots a bit.
Not a lot of details on this one but these are sweet.
Thank ya’ll for all your kind words about my boy.
They mean the world to me & Big Daddy 🙂

The things I learn on your blog…! A blanket chest? I have never even heard of that, but that cedar lining is gorgeous! And the final finish is beautiful as well. I love that you included the quilt from your Great Grandmother. How wonderful to have something like that handed down.
