I stopped in one of my not so regular haunts this week and was blown away by the massive selection of furniture. This particular thrift shop is quite a bit northwest of me so I don’t get out there very often. I have been wanting get my little paint covered hands on one of these smaller buffets for years! The only thing wrong with it was the top was pretty beat up. That did not at all phase me. Seeing as how I’ve got my trusty orbital sander and all :))
Kinda dated but still good bones.
This scalloped detailed was thing that sucked me in initially. The fact that both drawer glide smoothly didn’t hurt either, plus the price was in my budget.
Now the after:))
I took a few big chances with this one.
The color for one. This is General Finishes Midnight Blue chalk paint. I had been eyeing this color for several months and my new petite buffet was still at that thrift store waiting for me to pick it up but the thrift store was already closed. The paint store however was open till 6:00, so off I went and headed home with my newest paint color. I could not wait to crack that can open and paint this buffet!
The other chance I took was with the hardware. I wasn’t thinking hardware for the piece so much as jewelry. This deep blue color is so luxurious I thought some special pulls were in order. I already had the antique brass pulls that I got in my Hinge Vintage Hardware haul a few weeks ago, so I put one of those in my purse and headed to Hobby Lobby to stand in the knob/pull aisle for 45 minutes with my eyes glazed over.
We’ve all bend there.
I loose my mind in that aisle like you do not know.
I came away with two of these.
They are pretty sleek for my taste but I just love them! They remind me of a pair of pretty & classic earrings. Thank God it was 50% off knobs week, making theses $2.50 each ( I think?) . The big reason I chose to not go with four matching pulls was because the pull holes in the top drawer are half an inch closer together that the bottom ones. So the odds of me finding 4 matching pulls that I liked in two different sizes were slim. So I filled the outer holes with wood filler and went to bed. The next morning I sanded the filler down until it was smooth and perfect.
The deep rich blue really accentuates the curves of this lovely piece.
Despite the gouges and scratches the mahogany top sanded down and finished up really pretty . This finish is just Annie Sloan Dark Wax.
In other news we cleaned out The Hell Hole yesterday …….and every single corner of both of us hurts.
And YES.
These are the AFTER pictures.
May God have mercy on our souls.

It is gorgeous & classic!! I love that color & it does accentuate the curves & lines. And, the most important part of your garage is the bike fits in it! LOL
