When it comes to painting furniture my formula goes like this:
Warmer weather = larger pieces
Winter= small pieces
Common sense really. I am pretty tenacious but I can not drag a buffet in to my kitchen by myself. I know this to be true because I have tried. Also, if I am successful at getting the buffet in to my kitchen there is no room for anything else. No cooking, no loading the dishwasher, no room of any kind. So at my house Winter & colder weather is for small pieces of furniture. So in the Fall I began to build my Seasonal stockpile of pieces that I could both carry by myself in to the kitchen and easily work around in that kitchen. This is the very last piece in my stockpile:
I found this darling Ethan Allen end table at an Alzheimer’s thrift store for 20 bucks. Apparently that day was $20 table day. The walls were lined in them.
All were 20 bucks!
This little French job was the cutest of the bunch so it went home in my Jeep. Lots of curves and details on this one plus it had those sweet backplates going for it even if I wasn’t nuts over those key pulls. And it was pine…..my favorite wood:)))
Now.
I have a black French Provincial table on the other side of my couch. You better believe I thought about keeping this one for myself. I painted this piece in General Finishes Bone White chalk paint. You know? When in doubt go simple and neutral and to me that means black or white. Most of our home is black and white. We spoke about this a few weeks ago, about the fact that certain colors can elevate a piece……
Black or white will do it every time y’all.
I have a big shoe box full to overflowing with knobs. I tried most of the fancy porcelain ones on this little pine end table and they were just too much. Does that make sense? The table had plenty going on without any big jewelry. Also in that box were these small antique wooden knobs and they painted and distressed up perfectly!
Just a little bit of distressing 🙂
I did sand and refinish that pretty pine top. The edging detail is pretty cool!
Simple
I need to quit overthinking stuff………

Just gorgeous! The knob change was a perfect choice and made the piece look more “current”. I wish I lived close to you because I would be buying your pillows and furniture all the time 😂!

I love it! I think it turned out perfect. I overthink everything as well and it drives me crazy. Takes me forever do do a project because of it.
