Y’all,
I get something in my Crazy Little Head………and IT. IS. ON.
Like I am relentless, teetering on the verge of misery.
Let me give y’all an example.
I was laying on the couch in our den on a Saturday morning. Big Daddy was over at his computer in the same room with me. I was flipping through the Craigslist FREE ads as casual as could be when I come across something that I had waited my entire life to see in black and white print:
Free Monkey To A Good Home
Sweet Jesus!
What ensued in that den that day is still a hotly debated topic in this house. I honestly thought Big Daddy’s head would pop off. Long story short? I ain’t got no monkey…..and I am still bitter!
On to today’s victim:
Would you look at those feet?
When I saw this coffee table on Facebook Marketplace it was just like that monkey ad. I could not get it off my mind! If I am going honest my routine hunting ground is about a 20 square mile area. And up until this little doll showed up I was very happy with that radius. Lord y’all I drove to Old Fort, NC for this thing because I could not get those ball & claw feet out of my Crazy Little Head!
The table was solid as a rock but the finish on the top was shot so that got sanded down right away.
I have included the above photo, albeit crappy for a reason.
This is the UGLY STAGE. It ain’t for the faint of heart.
You have to just power through it and trust the paint.
Lord, those talons.
This no so little coffee table is so sweet ya’ll!
I painted the base of this is two good coats of General Finishes Bone White Chalk Paint. All white furniture paints are not created equally. Bone white is my current favorite. It is a warmer, very slightly off white without being sterile. The big bonus with the GF paint is there is no bleed through at all.
I was really happy withe the way the top finished up.
This is just Annie Sloan Dark Wax. If you look very closely at the bottom right edge of this picture you can see a thin line of color change. This is where the very thin veneer was already worn away. I really like using that dark Wax in these areas. It settles in pretty well and minimizes the effect of it an the finish.
I took a few photos off the rug just to show those details on the base of the table a bit better. I chose not to distress the base at all. It is so lovely on it’s own, don’t you think?
I hope this one goes to someone who fall stone, cold in love with it.
Kind like me 🙂
