Flaw
Noun: A mar, blemish or imperfection.
Verb: Mar, weaken or invalidate.
Y’all, I gave up perfect a looooong time ago.
Judging from the date on the Goodwill tag on the top of this pine table I would say a bunch of people could not see past the flaws. And just let me say Thank God because this girl was all over this one. Sometimes I get this way unrealistic anxiety in the middle of a thrift store that there is another nut in there with me that is gonna snap up something before I can get the item in question up to the register. So I didn’t even recon the rest of that Goodwill!
I went straight to the checkout.
The finish was not only a mess there was also what appeared to a burn mark on the table’s top as well so the first thing I did was sand off the old finish and start fresh.
I chose not the sand the burn mark completely off because it would have left a visible low, uneven spot in the top. The entire top only took me about 20 minutes because there really wasn’t much finish or satin left on it. This thing had been handled pretty rough.
I LOVE me some pine. And having said that my go to finish for pine is Annie Sloan Dark Wax. Pine has almost a yellow tint to it and the dark wax looks so good on it. Better than any actual stain I have ever tried.

It is common knowledge that paint can transform lots of things.
In my opinion particular colors can also elevate.
This table was in need of both.
One of those colors is black.
I chose General Finishes Lamp Black.
Each side of this table has a pull out work surface that I didn’t find by the way until I was painting it. Apparently the previous owner was also unaware. They both appear as though they have never been used.
I love this little curved detail. There is one on the back just like it. There is also a and scraped markings on the legs.
See what I mean?
I think this thing was better made than I thought. Other than stripping the top for obvious reasons the rest is really sound. Especially for 20 bucks.
This framed print was also a thrifted find.
$6
I did fill two of the original pull holes and decided in favor of drop pulls.
I like to use these on smaller lighter drawers.
The pull outs came with antique brass knobs so I found suitable companions.
.
I was having a really hard time deciding on these!
They are a lot more affordable than pulls but I think a bail pull is much better for a big heavy drawer. I got impatient as usual and ended up driving to Hobby Lobby and finding these for $2 each.
Pretty stately piece…….especially for a throwaway, huh?
Look past it y’all.

Lovely table. I’m like you, rushing into Goodwill grabbing a cart swirling through the aisles tossing things in (to decide on at the end of my spree), giving the evil eye to anyone who comes near the section I’m looking at. Lol thrifting is serious business!

I’ve never seen the pull outs on a table like that. Again, you find the beauty in so many ugly ducklings!
