I lost my mind over this y’all.
Fact
My Lord would you look at that pedestal?
I found this gem on Facebook Marketplace and drove to that soooo awesome junk store in Hendersonville that I told y’all about in my last post. What I left out was that I begged the lady to take my credit card over the phone because I was irrationally afraid that someone else would get there before me. Once I got to the store on a sunny less than 20 degree day it appeared that I had myself something very special. Alas, some industrious soul had for some reason attempted to refinish the top. The newer stain had a decidedly purple cast to it and the grain of the table top was really raised/rough. It is important to note at this point I was completely unfazed.
Hard. Head.
That’s me 🙂
I took me almost an hour and a half and 4 sanding disks to remove that old finish and I applied the new one by the light of our from porch light. I didn’t care one bit. I was a girl on a mission.
Or a girl possessed.
Pick one.
Oh. My.
I am so happy with the way this tabletop turned out!
I was worth every bit of work I had to put in to it. All that is on it is Annie Sloan dark wax. Big Daddy is afraid to eat on it until I apply a good coat of AS clear wax, just to be safe………and keep me from wringing his neck.
I painted the pedestal in General Finishes Bone White Chalk Paint and I am really glad I invested in this new can of paint. I am slowly but surely filling my paint cabinet with GF products.
I also picked up a can of Flatout Flat which is a topcoat/protectant. I haven’t used it yet but I am excited to. It is getting harder for these fingers to wax a lot.
Back to The World’s Greatest Junk Store story.
So far I have shared this table, the lithograph and the little table/desk that I painted green. I have one more find yet to share and it is a mirror.
Have a great week!
