I have issues.
Many issues.
And I have never made one single effort to hide them. Ask anyone who knows me. Hell ask my family. Lord knows they are brutally honest people. Big Daddy? Not so much on the brutal part. He loves my like crazy and he wants me to be happy and feel good about my crazy little self.
And this is what has kept him in a job for over 30 years :)))
Today I am talking about my Lamp Issues.
I seriously can not lay off of them. Neither for my home or my shop. I prefer to pick them up in matched pairs but you can’t always find them so lately I have been dragging in a few, albeit really cool singles. I was out prowling my neighborhood thrift stores a few days after Christmas when I found this really cool lamp base with a not so cool finish but the price as right,
Four bucks.
Yes it is looks like a mess at first site but it was pretty new and I loved the details so home with me it came!
I did wipe the dust off of it and lightly sand those spots where it appears that the old finish is peeling off. But that was the only prep I did before I gave it a new coat of good paint and a new linen shade that I found at Ross for $9.99.
Major difference, yes?
I painted my $4 lamp base in one of my favorite whites, Americana Decor’s Everlasting chalk paint.
It was one I my very favorite whites and I use it all the time.
In general there are lots of decorative/ furniture paints out there and every more price points. And I can promise y’all I have tried more than my share. Americana Decor paints are great and the price point is in just about everyone’s budget. I recently discovered this cool sampler pack :
It is referred to as the Shabby Chic Sampler Set. It is the perfect starter set for DIY nuts like myself. I’m pretty sure it’s new because there is no way in this world that Something this cool would have gotten past my radar. There is also a much more bold sample set:
.
These colors are referred to as the Bohemian Collection and I must say the colors are gorgeous!
This pottery pitcher was a Christmas gift from Aunt Wanda.
I see lots of flower arrangements in it’s future!
I picked up a second lamp base and I will share that make over soon.
Until then be on the lookout on the lamp aisles at your local the thrift stores!

I love what you did with the lamp. It looks great. You really have an eye for painting things to look their best. I love the black side table and your color scheme! Those are my colors too!

I have a lamp addiction too and probably need to start selling some my painted ones that are gathering in the storage closet under our stairs, lol. It is hard to pass up a good find. Your lamp looks great!
