So.
Two days after Christmas I started to jones.
I was absolutely vibrating to go out and find my next victim.
This is starting to sound like some gritty crime novel, huh? It had been almost a month since I’d put paintbrush to piece of junk furniture and quite frankly Paige needed her fix. What’s more, Big Daddy needed Paige to get (or in this case find) her fix. I had a hair appointment at lunchtime so I pulled out of my driveway about two hours early so I could hit a few of my usually haunts.
I hit pay dirt right out of the gate.

I spotted this thing from across the room.
I have been looking for an end table for our living room for some time now. I love the antique drum table we’ve had for a year or two there but the height was never correct. Plus, there’s that $7 price tag, a steal if I ever saw one. This French Provincial table is in exceptional shape for 7 bucks. Both drawers were in excellent condition as well. In fact they look as though they have never been used, no smell what so ever. I almost never get that lucky! It’s only flaw was what appears to be water damage probably from a plant of some kind.
Trust me…….I did not give a rip.
Black was in my crazy little head from the second I saw it.
I have said this before: when it comes to decorative paints General Finishes Lamp Black is by far my favorite It is a gorgeous color.
I have never been a huge fan of the traditional French Provincial hardware so I was planning on replacing the original pulls. I had planned to run out to Hobby Lobby the day I dragged the table home. By the time I was ready to head that way it was late so I dug around in my stash and low and behold I found a match.
I found them on Amazon, a heck of a deal for a ten pack!
.
I love how a little paint (two coats) and different hardware can change just about anything :)))
I let the paint dry for about two hours before I sanded the entire piece with a find grade sanding sponge. I wanted to remove quite a bit of that black paint and I love that look. To me it transforms a pretty formal style in to a more relaxed piece. More like our our home and our personal style.
Little Man agrees.
I just love that tail :))))

I know what you mean about having to hit the thrift store to find something to paint. And you did find a great treasure and it looks terrific.

I don’t care for French Provincial pulls either, Paige, but the ones you used are great. And I love the Lamp Black! Nice job.

So gorgeous. Habitat for Humanity in Edmonton would charge about $35 to 50 for that piece. I wish they could meet with your store’s manager lol. It is so beautiful and French provincial is my very favorite. Well done shopping and finishing. It’s perfect.

OMG, I am enjoying reading your blog. Another fabulous find! It is amazing that piece was only $7.00. Pieces used to be priced like that around Austin years ago, but now most resell thrift shops here have raised their prices, including Goodwill.
