The day after Thanksgiving is a big day around here. As soon and the coffee pot is empty and the breakfast dishes are done we climb up in the attic and bring down every Christmas decoration we ever had. Normally we start with the outside stuff but this year we began with inside of our home. We did the outside of the house on Saturday instead.
This morning, as soon as I got up I started on the dining room.
It’s my favorite to decorate:)))
Turns out a queen sized duvet cover is the perfect length for a table runner.
Who new?
I found these deer on clearance last year at Walgreen’s, of all places.
I really like how they look among the Magnolia.
We have had this antique dresser for nearly 30 years and most of it’s life’s been spent in our dining room. It functions as a buffet in here. It is sooo fun to decorate at Christmas!
I used a long needle pine lighted garland on the mirror. I began doing this a long time ago. I just love the glow it creates and the way it looks from outside. For a little more sparkle and texture I filled a woven basket with faux pine branches , oversized metallic ornaments, a pretty wrapped package and a big Sugar pinecone.
The black and white checked flannel ribbon is from Big Lots. I think it was $3 /roll.
I found the pine branches with the little pinecones at Michaels. It was $5.99 minus 70% off.
It’s pretty realistic looking for faux.
My Mama gave me this antique chest when we very first got married. It is a beautiful piece and is perfect storage in the dining room. I hold linens and extra serving pieces.
The cable knit stocking was also a Michaels find. I have used Christmas stockings in this room as decorations as long as I can remember. The colors of the stockings change as my colors in the room change. I think I will be using this cream colored pen for years. It’s simplicity is beautiful to me.
For the top of the chest I went straight out in my yard and collected a bouquet of evergreens. They are in water and will last a couple of weeks. I tucked in another smaller wrapped package with a black and white bow. I also redid a smaller chalkboard for the Season while I was at a it.
Simple natural details. Nothing to complicated or pricey.
Have a great week !
Paige
