It is no secret that my number one decorating go to during Thanksgiving and Christmas is live greenery. I mean a sprig of two of cedar, eucalyptus or pine and anything looks festive. And clean and bright , if ya’ll ask me. You can’t beat the stuff. Well today I’m going to share with you several other free options (when it comes to decorating) in my Christmas bag of tricks.
I have a thing for Santa.
And not just any Santa either. He must look like the Santa I dreamed about as a little girl. This was our Christmas card from several years ago and I still love it. I just save a few of my very favorite Christmas card every year and put them in the picture frames that I already have in any given room.
This Santa looks so pretty next to these old books in just the right shade of vintage green.
The stack of red ones we keep on our coffee table this time of year. I collected these specifically for there color. I love the muted and warn shades of red. The are just red enough, if that makes any sense.
This green collection came together by accident.
At Christmas I actually prefer a celery, lime or olive green over the traditional Christmas green.
Every year I save a few smaller empty boxes and wrap them in pretty paper (not necessarily Christmas paper) and tie them up with bits of ribbon .
I amazes me what a few sprigs of cedar when tucked up under a pretty ribbon.
I place these around the house on smaller tables.
For the bedrooms I try to coordinate the wrapping with the colors I’ve used in the room, but it really is hard to beat brown paper tied up with a red ribbon, isn’t it? 🙂
