It is no secret that I am a Leg Girl.
People on the moon know this.
It is also no secret that I am a thrifty (cheap) thing. I have always been pretty conservative with money because it’s the smart thing. But the biggest reason I am thrifty when it come to my home and the pieces I choose to have in it is because My tastes change. If I invest in mint in one single piece I feel like I have to live with that piece until The Rapture comes.
Get it?
Having a shop of my own does afford me some wiggle room though. If I am ever seduced my the latest thing ( on sale of course ). I can always sell it’d predecessor . Over the years I have become pretty good at the ‘Decor Fad Work Around’. In other words, there is a knockoff for almost everything.
Today’s Victim:
I try my best to keep a dining table of some kind in my shop. The sell really well. Moreover, I can not lay off the china so I need a place to display the stuff and an actual dining table its perfect for it. My last table (with four chairs) sold in five days so I was in a bit of rush to find another. You can not beat an oak 6 top with good legs, especially at this price.
Lord.
Look!!!
I painted the legs as soon as I hit the door with the table and I sanded down that oak veneer top (CAREFULLY) while they were drying.
This Barn Wood -esque finish is becoming a trademark around this house. I just love how Annie Sloan Dark wax settles in to every nook, cranny and imperfection.
and it repels water like a Boss.
Now The After:
I had the most fun styling theses photos!
I LUUUUUV this one! We delivered it down to my shop this morning and the initial reviews are really good :). Big Daddy and I put the legs back on ( no table will fit in to my Jeep with the legs on) and he wandered around the antique store while I styled the top down there as well 🙂
It does not take much to make me happy.
Once again…..Brown transferware screams Fall to me.
As does this Oakleaf hydrangea. I love the colors they turn in the Fall. They can stand alone as a centerpiece I tell you. No blooms necessary.
I paid $39 for the table but the legs were worth that alone.
Even if you have to buy the sander and the wax and paint you will have less Tham $150 in this 60″ Farm table that seats six no problem. Google 60′ Farm Table and you are in that one for way more.
You are welcome 🙂
