I really love Library Tables.
They are one of the more versatile pieces of furniture you can own. I don’t run across them all that often but when I do see them they are usually a good price. I think people see an old desk that a computer won’t work on or with. I see several possibilities. Mine acts as a sofa table of sorts. It sits behind the pair of oversized chairs in our living room. My Mama had hers in her bedroom . If you’ve got space the make nice night tables. Depending on the legs of the library (straight versus curved). they would make a cool and stylish kitchen island if you added casters. There is no better foyer/entry table that a good Library table. I offers storage plus a drop zone and this piece of furniture is always smokin’ hot stylish.
Today’s victim:
Ignore the Hell Hole it’s sitting in.
Its easy to do when you get a load go those LEGS.
I came by this piece from a very nice young man on a Facebook yard sale site.
After a not so good experience about a month or so ago I have begun to lay the law down when I am negotiating a furniture deal. After we have agreed on a price and where / went to meet I , as politely as possible state that I will not go in to anyone’s home, basement, garage or any other boogery hole. Then I apologize and say I mean no offense. He completely understood and met me right out in the middle of Grove Street in downtown Asheville.
And they say Chivalry is dead.
Who parts with this stuff I ask you???
This piece is so cool!!! I sanded down the top and the under shelf first thing. The self was perfect. The top not so much. I don’t work with oak all that much for some reason, let alone an oak veneer. I had to be super careful with this top because someone somewhere had been pretty mean to that oak veneer.
But we did alright together :)))
I finished the top with Annie Sloan Dark Wax only. Its been my go to for a while now. Its easy, soap & water clean up and it looks different on every type of wood.
I Loooooooovvvvvveeeee it on oak.
The curve of the little shelf is so sweet.
I seriously considered trading my own library table for this one.
I have never seen one like it.
Alas , it is currently down in my shop where I fear it will not last long :))
Wishing you a lovely Fall weekend!

What a gorgeous little table. You did a beautiful job restoring it. The white legs look so crisp with the natural oak.

Hi! love that table. just thought I’d let you know I have tried on several separate occasions to subscribe to your posts, but it gives an error page every time. I don’t doubt I may have done something wrong, but after 3 times, just thought I’d let you know in case something is wrong.

Oh my so wish I could either find a table like that, love those legs, or buy yours. And that shelf, be quiet heart. I love tables, all kinds. Is usually first thing I go for. But we live in western CO on west side of Rockies, few miles west of Grand Junction, out in rural area.
Have been in Asheville with Mr.Furry when he used to be trucker and I was with him, did that as much as I could and sure do miss going with him,he’s retired now. We got to see lots of country together especially when he trucked out of MT where we lived for 7 yrs. Then we lived in western K for 5 yrs. and now here in CO since Aug.2004.. Love your blog and your ideas.
Happy daze
