I feel like ALL I have done for days is watch that Weather Channel and cry.
This hurricane is absolutely driving me crazy. Er. And I feel like I have good reason. This whole event is way too similar to September 2004. A little ol’ storm called Ivan sent a 120 foot red oak tree through our bedroom ceiling. It devastated Western North Carolina. For what seemed like years I would cry every time the wind blew. I pray hard for anyone who is in Irma’s path. I haven’t felt well at all this week and it’s probably the situation but every joint I have is on fire and I can not get relief unless I am neck deep in a bathtub of hot water. Monday night is going to be hell for us.
I finally today jerked a knot in my own rear end and forced myself to get on to something besides fear and self pity.
Works wonders.
I started by talking everything out of the china cabinet and putting it away. Then I dug out all of my brown transfer ware and anything remotely Fall related. I love how the brown looks on a Fall table. When my Mama relinquished Thanksgiving to me a couple of years before she died I began to collect for my own table. These turkey salt and pepper shakers were my very first acquisition.
The Give Thanks plates were a Marshall’s find three years ago.
The big white pumpkin tureen was a birthday gift from Big Daddy probably five years ago. It is absolutely gorgeous filled with Fall colors of flowers.
My newest piece is the little white pumpkin bowl.
I just love that little stem!
I found it al Michaels craft store . It was $10 but on sale for 40% off plus an additional %20.
I’m thinking about serving cranberry sauce in it with a very fancy antique silver ladle my Aunt Wanda gave me :))). Funny story about the big brown transfer ware lid. Big Daddy and I were in an antique mall in South Carolina when I found it and a blue transfer ware lid right as I walked in the front door of the place. I really didn’t want to juggle two pieces of china all around the store so I immediately walked up to the checkout counter and they offered to hold them while I shopped. I had almost made my way through the shop and back to the counter when I overheard the conversation between the employee working that counter and my husband. I knew it was Big Daddy when I heard, ‘Im pretty sure my wife wouldn’t buy just a lid…’.
Nope. She would buy two.
Thank you so much for stopping by to see my Fall china cabinet. Stay safe and dry and say a little prayer for those of us in the Southeast please.

Absolutely LOVE your Fall China Cabinet. Love the brown transfer ware , even the beautiful Lid, which I would not have passed up either. Praying for you and all that are in the potential path of Hurricane Irma. My son and his family live in southern Florida on the east side and thank God the “cone” has shifted away from that area, however I am praying for those who may be in the path. Trusting that you and your loved ones will be just fine. Know that you are in my prayers.
“Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.” Psalms 31:24

I love how you have styled your china cupboard for fall. Since I have a bit of a plate addiction, I really admire all of your brown transferware and creamware. Thanks for sharing your beautiful arrangement.

Im interested in knowing what you have on the back of your china cabinet…paper or fabric?
And where can I get some?
Thanks,
Mildred
