I have taken this past week off to relax and recover from Vintage Market Days Asheville. I am tired. A tired like all I want to do is take hot baths and sleep in my own bed. In all honesty I am just now processing the five days I spent with the wonderful artisans I am so grateful to have met and worked with at this event. The rest of the experience was a disappointment for me. It wasn’t as productive as I had hoped and the August heat as well as no AC in the venue the first three days did a number on us all. Every corner of me sore and I am truly glad for the opportunity but I am not at all sure I will want to do it again.
This week I have been cleaning up my wreck of a house and enjoying it without piles of furniture and other Market goods scattered about. The heat and humidity from last week have given way cooler and dryer weather. You can actually feel the change of Season and I for one am thrilled!!!
Today I had a half day off from my Day Job and I decided to start thinking about Fall!
Just a touch of it.
Oh Fall how I have missed you.
Almost everything I used on out mantle I already had in the house.
I did purchase three small things for this project and they were cheap.
The Kingfisher print is another instant download from Etsy for a buck. I was wanting to add a new art piece to our living room in a different color palette. The dark gray of the bird on the white ground works perfectly an old frame I had out in the garage left over from the Market. I gave the frame a couple of coats of General Finishes Lamp Black and I recovered the existing matte in craft paper,
I spent $6 at Hobby Lobby on the olive branches and this very realistic realistic faux pumpkin.
I just loved the bluish green color and the stem 🙂
The rest of the stuff I had here and there in drawers and closets. Several years ago I flew out to Montana for eight day to work on the Blackfoot Indian Reservation. The black and white print of the Blackfoot warrior was one of the few things that I brought back with me……besides my memories of my time there, in another world all together.
He is magnificent, isn’t he?
And so it starts.
I dint know about y’all, but I’m ready for it :)))
