I went through the South Asheville Goodwill last week like Sherman through Atlanta. I just had a minute or two to kinda scope out the furniture section…..and thank God I did.
If Big Daddy knew I was even thinking about painting something that close to his Bike he would have a Duck Fit. Maybe he shouldn’t leave me home alone…..
I snapped this dresser and one other piece up like a shot. I already had a Jeep full of other stuff so I couldn’t even take them with me. I went back two days later for both of them and set about cleaning the dresser up and picking a paint color.
I sanded the old finish off the top but I didn’t want to sand out all of the imperfections. I really love how stain, or in my case Dark wax settles in to these. It makes for a much cooler natural top in my opinion. Lord knows I don’t want anything too perfect. There is no danger of that around here……
The back of this thing is the BOMB!.
I think the entire dresser is hand made.
I went with white on this one. I honestly thought that any other color might detract from the piece. I am crazy about this piece! I swear if I had the space in my own kitchen this would be on wheels in there as a kitchen island.
Love how that top came out:)))
I almost never keep the original hardware on a piece but
#1 It was screwed in from the front and I couldn’t get it off.
#2 They are copper and I loved them!
You know most of the time when I don’t look over a piece of furniture really well, check out the drawers, sniff it, all that, it bites me in the butt. HARD. This time I honestly made out pretty good .
I decided to sand the daylights outa this dresser.
That’s quite the departure for me. I am usually a ‘linear distressing’ girl.
Big Daddy ain’t so sure about ‘sand the daylights out of it’ girl.
Have a safe and happy 4th!

I love the way the dresser turned out. I can definitely see it as an island. And handmade to boot, you did do good.
