1. You really can’t leave me by myself for very long.
I get in to stuff.
2. I LOVE to mix paint colors.
So having said these, if you are a paint color purest today’s post ain’t for you :)))
I picked up today’s victim last weekend at a yard sale for a whopping $10. I’m pretty sure I slung gravel as I left! This is one babydoll of a little dresser. The top was in pretty rough shape though but I was able to sand that smooth pretty quickly with my little orbital…….. And then I just walked by it in the Hell Hole and stared at it for a week.
I was truly drawing a blank on what color to paint the Babydoll. Very unlikely for me to do this, y’all. I usually have that color locked in before I ever get the piece home.
This morning as I was sitting out on our porch at 6:30 enjoying the early morning light and my coffee I thought I might as well just go through my paint cabinet and see exactly what I had in that little rathole:)
I started by picking these three General Finishes paints, two Chalk Paints and one Milk Paint and then I went and found a sheet of white paper.
This is how I do it every single time.
I just dip a fingertip in to one color and paint a small circle in that color on to the white paper. Then I add the second and third colors, mixing it with a clean fingertip. This gives me a reference and a starting g point. It’s more accurate than one might think.
On this project I went the the color smack in the middle of the paper:)
Off the coast of North and South Carolina lies the Atlantic. Depending on the day and the clouds it can appear both blue and green. This sums up the color I came up with after I mixed one part Coastal Blue milk paint, one part Nantucket Green chalk paint and a little less than half a part of the Summertime Blue.
I painted the drawers first. And then sanded them down with an old, well used sanding sponge. The color change was impressive. It really brought out the green!
That beat up top come out just fine. I used my Old Standby, just dark furniture wax only.
I kept the mismatched Hepplewhite hardware. It is probably my very favorite hardware ever. I did clean it up with soap, water and that old sanding sponge though:)
Pretty sweet!
Have re a great weekend!
Paige
