Do you ever buy something just for the hell of it?
Just because you can not believe the price?
Well, I don’t.
Seriously.
If I don’t want or need it I just keep walking. Until a couple of weeks ago. I was in a local new-to-me charity thrift store and found this:
Ah, yes. One again a piece of French Provincial furniture follows me home.
For five bucks.
Even Big Daddy said, ‘What the…..’ I will spare you the rest. It’s kinda hard to tell from these pictures but this (??) library table-of-sorts is pretty big. So a substantial piece of French Provincial for $5.
That ultra shiny top was killing me though.
I sanded that mess off but it took me almost an hour.
There wasn’t any kind of great wood under it either but surprisingly it finished up nice!
Much better, and kinda stately!
I used General Finishes Queenstown Gray on this table. In my opinion there was a lot going on with the table, curved legs, curly feet plus the scallop on the top edge. It didn’t need to look like the circus was in town.
Just a nice, classic color.
Two coats of the paint covered the table nicely.
I found these chevron handles at Hobby Lobby back in February when I was getting ready for Vintage Market Days. They didn’t really work on the chest that I bought them for so I had two of them chipmunked in my hardware stash.
You really can not beat thte price.
I love the profile of these handles.
The black and white really sets off the antique brass so nicely.
Lord, Hydrangea Season.
It is my favorite time of year!
One of my own white ones is actually covered in buds.
I am so excited I can’t stand it 🙂
‘Nothing Special’ wood looks pretty good now.
Maybe I should Impulse Buy more often?
