Or as I was going to call it, ‘Big Daddy is outa town and Paige is afraid of her own staple gun.
Bet that got your attention.
My Mama referred to situations like this as getting in a fizz. Well, I was sure as hell in a fizz when I found these two little dolls at the Habitat Restore!!!
It was quite the show watching me drag them through the parking lot to my Jeep.
The wear on them is perfect. Just look at the arms.
The price didn’t hurt any either.
Six bucks!
I have thrown $6 out a car window more times than I can count. Fact. Who hasn’t, I ask y’all. They had 10 of them. Some were better than others so I took my time selecting a pair as my next victims.
The chairs themselves are solid as a rock. And worn to perfection in my little opinion. All I felt like they needed was a good cleaning with a soapy rag . I let them sit out on our patio until they were completely dry and then I wiped them down again this time with some hemp oil on a clean cloth.
Those seat covers had seen better days (and maybe some spaghetti ???) but I had a plan. Frankly it has been a buffalo check kinda Spring around here so why in the world would I stop now?
I had been saving this black check for just such an occasion. I cut it out ( using kitchen shears) about two inches bigger than the seat and then I secured it in place on each side with tacks. Then I went all the way around the seat with the tacks, folding the fabric slightly as I went so that the seat would be nice and smooth.
Not the upholstery kind of tacks, if I’m being honest.
And I may or may not have used a kitchen mallet to do the job.
I just love the wear on the arms.
The hemp oil really brought out the color of the wood.
I thought about painting the chairs but I honestly think that this was the way to go on these. I am loving this time worn look. Why try to recreate it here? I am also quite happy with the fabric choice. Anything busier would have been a mistake.
Thoughts?
I can think of about ten places to use this sweet bent wood chairs but I have a round dining table out in the Hell Hole that these would be perfect with. That is, when I get around to refinishing it.
Thanks so much for stopping in to see me!
Paige

This is great. I love a good buffalo plaid. I actually just added some to my gallery wall! I am so glad to see someone use regular tacks for a project like this because I’ve been wanting to reupholster my daughter’s computer chair and don’t have one of those heavy duty staple guns. I was going to do something like this and I’m glad to see that it actually works!
