I am not known for elaborate mantels.
OK, maybe at Christmas. But today’s project is pretty simple:)
All I really had in mind for our Summer mantel was to add some greenery.
And to redo my little homemade chalkboard for the Season.
All I did was paint the glass of an old, castoff frame with chalkboard paint. The frame was going out to the dumpster in my office trash. It has been all over our house for one thing or another.
And some texture!
All things that I rounded up from my house.
Except the hydrangea.
They came from my Mama’s………two weeks ago!
I have finally learned that when these babies wilt down just cut an bit off the stems and put them in clean water. The puff right back up again.
I hope I’ve given y’all an easy idea or two for you Summer decor 🙂

Love this! I have just found your blog. I have been looking through many of your posts. I love your style. I love texture and green and old things, so we have a lot in common! How did you do the lettering? I am terrible at this. Thanks

Julie honey, I have handwriting like a serial killer’s. I use Microsoft Word and print out what ever I want the chalkboard to say. I flip the paper over and rub a piece of chalk all over the back side of the words. Next I position the paper, right side up on the chalkboard and center it. Holding the paper still with my left hand I trace the word through the paper . The chalk outlines are transferred to the chalkboard. Then I just fill them in with the chalk:) thank you for your kind words! I hope you will come back to see me 🙂
