On days when I am home off from work all day and Big Daddy is not, he calls me to check in and the conversation is always like this…..
BD: ‘Hey Love, Whatchu up to?’
PD: ‘Oh, just doing my thang.’
BD: ‘What’s that?”
PD: “I’m having a Paige Day.”
Saturday was a typical, wonderful kinda Paige Day.
I was up early, before seven. I made a pot of French vanilla coffee and curled up in one of the chairs out on our front porch just watching the morning light come up and listening to the birds sing their early morning song. This spot out on the porch, with my big ‘P’ mug full of good coffee in my hand partially hidden behind the Japanese maple and a cat at my feet, is precious to me, as is this time. It levels me and steadies me. And I am so very grateful for it. It’s why I take such care with this porch, with it’s decor and esthetic. It’s my place :).
I highly recommend creating one of your own.
I had scoped out a small dresser on a Facebook yard sale site the night before. I had sent a FB message to the nice lady who was having that yard sale and we had agreed that I would be there early the next morning to check it out and pick it up. So after a breakfast at Krispy Kreme, I did just that and it went home with me for $10. Next I proceeded to hit every yard sale I passed on my way back home :). I unloaded my new old dresser and let it sit in the sunny driveway to air out and went to work on my project for the day.
I picked up this dresser about a month ago from a sweet young couple at their moving sale. The cool original hardware and the sweet detail at the bottom were what sucked me in on this one. The $30 price tag didn’t hurt either.
Now take a look 🙂
I gotta tell y’all I am loving this thing in our living room!
This is General Finishes Nantucket Green Chalk paint. To me it is a perfect vintage green, somewhere between olive and celery green.
I got kinda lucky on this one. The top of this dresser was not in bad shape at all. I wiped the entire top down with a bit of hemp oil and it was perfect.
I painted the dresser in two good coats of the Nantucket Green and as soon as it was dry I sanded the entire body of the piece to the degree (of distressing ) you see in these pictures.
The more I sanded the more I loved it.
Perfectly imperfect.
When it comes to painting furniture I have been in a White groove as of late. This beautiful vintage green is lovely departure from that. So far no finish of any kind on this one and I am currently content with that. Maybe some thing need to just age gracefully on their own. I spent the rest of the day laying in the sun followed by a two hour nap:). Later Big Daddy took me out for sushi.
Yea…..
A Perfect Paige Day :)))

I love the look. I always think of green as a neutral. The stained top is so nicely done.
