Contrary to popular belief, I do not paint everything I can get my hands on.
Case in point:
Lord.
All I can say is today I must be living right.
I had found a dresser on Facebook Marketplace and arranged to pick it up this morning. Well when I got there I figured out really quick that I had stumbled in to a moving sale. The nice young couple had already moved the dresser out front and I was just about to pay them when I noticed this amazing thing sitting right beside it. Low and behold it was also for sale!!! The previous buyers had backed out because of a small repair than needed to be done to the seat of this bench. Well, not me Jack! I snapped this thing up so fast I bet they are still talking about me 😉
This bench is damn near perfect.
All it really needs is a drop or two of hemp oil in a few places just to rehydrate the beautiful oak. The pegs that hold the seat in place are missing so we will have to do that in order to actually sit on it. The seat lifts up/ off for storing things. Oh what a great piece this would be in a foyer/ entry area! We don’t really have either of those so for now it’s sitting in my living room. I have probably walked by it fifteen times since noon 🙂
the details are amazing.
I could probably own this for the rest of my life and never paint it.
Probably.
I have been on a Hot Streak this week in terms of finding nice pieces of furniture to paint and take down to my shop. And the funny thing is every single piece I’ve brought home is oak except for one. I found a drop leaf table with amazing legs, an arm chair, this bench and a side table. The odd man out is a big, chunky legged pine coffee table.
Thank you for shopping in to see me!

Some things shouldn’t be painted and this is one of them. What a beautiful find.

What a fantastic find! You’re right that it’s a perfect foyer piece. So glad you’re not going to paint it. Congrats!

Goodness, what a gorgeous find I simply adore these old oak pieces myself. This one almost
looks like a hall tree missing the top half, but those carved details and grain always grab me. Wondeful save Carol and thanks for sharing it at #FridaysFurnitureFix !
