BACK ON THE HORSE
I have not touched a paintbrush to a stick of furniture in exactly two months. That Market really wiped me out, creativity wise. And I had promised myself a good break when all was said and done.
So I took one.
I have also not scrutinized Craigslist like The Antidote was in it. Or OCDly hit all of the thrift stores in Asheville proper. Or panicked when my shop was getting next to bare.
Believe me, nobody is more shocked than me. Well, maybe Big Daddy. But I have to say that after three solid years on the Crazy Train that is upcycling junk, I needed the break. And I am better for it.
So today I was itching to paint something……… all I had to do was walk out in to The Hell Hole and make a selection. Now, mind you there was not a great selection. I had picked down my usual really good hoard to just a handful of pretty interesting pieces, but I had no trouble choosing this one.
I LOOOOOVE a good drum table. I got this one off a Facebook Marketplace ad back in February for a good price, with every intention of finishing it in time for the Market. If memory serves this is the sixth drum that I have found and redone. It had it problems but was it was in the best shape (by far) of any of the previous ones. Truth be told , the seller had me at, ‘It as all of its brass toe caps.’
In my world, that is a luxury.
I needed something clean and simple. This old drum table did not disappoint. Drum tables are a classic, timeless sort. I do not feel the need to overthink them. A drum table painted a simple white and distressed a bit, can go anywhere, in any room.
The flowers are courtesy of my sweet friend, neighbor and gardener extraordinaire Donna. The peony is my first one of the season. I ‘m really excited about those!
Happy week ahead 🙂

You know sometimes I think I need to paint furniture in all of these different colors and then I see a beautiful table in white and I go back to the tried and true classic. The table is so lovely.

The lines of this table are so classic. I like the plain, neutral white and the simple styling to let the table design take center stage.
