I’ve been slowly cleaning up/out our front porch, with warmer and warmer weather encouraging me:) It’s not big porch and it’s quite narrow but it is covered and we really enjoy early mornings out there. When the midday sun gets too hot we leave the deck out back and retreat to the cool shade of the front porch. I absolutely love to enjoy my coffee out there on my days off so I make it a point to make it a pretty and comfortable space. So as I was knocking down the cobwebs with a broom and wiping out the windowsills I began to re think the stuff that I’ve been using out there for the past several seasons. As I cleaned and swept I began to turn things over in my head and tried and figure out how they could be revamped, rearranged or repurposed instead of going out and just buying new stuff.
Enter these terra cotta pots I bought almost 20 years ago at Kmart.
And this was my inspiration:
Lovely and classic.
So to make my FREE pots look similar I did what I always do……. I turned to a can of paint?
Let me just say that ANY light colored, flat paint will do. I just grabbed what I had on hand. I painted each pot with on quick coat and let it dry completely.
I did not spend a lot of time on these. I pretty much dry brushed them because I would be using a fine grit, well-used sanding sponge on each pot to highlight the details.
Here’s the results!
Pretty sweet !
I also think they would make great pillar candle holders or a good place to hold cocktail napkins.
This has LOADS of possibilities 🙂
For now though these whitewashed terra cotta hold a couple if pretty flowering plants that I found at Walmart for $3.88 each.
Have a great week!
