It happens every year.
We have just enough unseasonably warm weather to make me loose my mind.
I just want to sit out in the sun. I want to get some sun! Last week I really had Spring Fever. I cleaned the front porch both off & up and had a nice glass of wine out there one evening after work. That’s all it took to get my gears humming about sprucing up our outdoor spaces around here. I have been chipmunking a nice Amazon gift card from Christmas, so the first thing I did was find a nice new deck umbrella to replace our old one. You could have thrown a cat through that thing. I’m pretty sure we’d had it for six or seven years.
You know how as you are shopping on Amazon it will suggest stuff you might want based on what you just ordered?
Well, long story short………..
We have had these resin wicker chairs for about four years and they are still in perfect condition. Best outdoor furniture we’ve ever owned. We got them at Walmart from their Mainstays line. Sadly, they must have discontinued them. They are really roomy and comfortable. I stopped by out neighborhood Walmart last week to check but the ones they have this year are not the same. I did leave with four of these navy cushions for $8.88 each. The navy was my jumping off point. So when I got home I dug through my fabric hoard to see what might match. I had made these ticking pillow covers last Summer so I added a couple more pillows made from this navy script fabric. I can’t remember where I got this but I have seen it in gray ( maybe) at Hobby Lobby.
My little shadow approves 🙂
I was super disappointed that the garden centers still did not have much in the way of Spring plants. Looks like they would see nuts like me coming. We see pretty plants….our eyes glaze over……we buy the pretty plants. Two weeks later there’s a cold snap and they are dead as a hammer. I did snag a couple of Boston ferns at Lowes but had zero luck with any annuals for a few small containers I really wanted to fill.
So I improvised.
What Lowes lacked in annuals they made up for in the vegetable plant section.
I filled this old bunny tray with Romain lettuce, cabbage and white pansies and I just love how they turned out. First thing big Daddy said was, ‘So we can eat these?’ They are way too cute to eat in my opinion.
The ottoman the bunny tray is sitting on I also found at Walmart. It matches the chairs perfectly and functions nicely as a coffee table. We had the small side table from a year or two ago so now we have a place or two to sit a drink. My last stop of the day was Hobby Lobby.
I found this perfect little galvanized metal piece we can use to hold drinks and it will also work for a place to hold snacks and barware. At $41 is was the least expensive ‘BAR-LIKE’ thing I’ve come across. It fits perfectly in the small space we have between the door and the deck railing.
These blue striped napkins I found last Fall at Target in the Dollar Spot. The came in pairs for $3. I can’t remember why I picked up 6 but now Im really glad I did. They look great out here.
Thank you so much for stopping by to see my deck updates for Spring. I really do enjoy this space, especially having coffee in the morning out here as soon as it’s warm enough. I’m also right in the middle of working on our front porch. Alas, the weather is not cooperating this week so that project will have to wait a bit.
Happy Monday!
