About three weeks ago as I was making my “rounds” as I call them, hitting all of the thrift stores in South Asheville I came across something that is rare for me.
A matching pair of anything.
These were sitting, covered in crap at my neighborhood Salvation Army Family Store. Fact of business, I walked right by them twice before I noticed that detail in the upper right corner peeking out from behind the edge of a picture frame.
Nothing gets by me.
They are made of pine and have knotholes galore!
All the better for paint to seep into….. and sandpaper to highlight.
I painted them both in Old White.
Stately & Classic
I’m pretty sure they would be a lovely addition to a master bedroom ;). They are oversized, a little taller and wider than your average night tables and they are not that old. From the looks of the insides they have never been used. So I’m thinking they’ve come out of a guest room, maybe?
The big bonus with this pair of night tables was the hardware. They actually came with really cool wrought iron bail pulls which is a score. I may find an amazing deal on a dresser or something and then turn right around and wreck it with a hardware bill.
Nobody likes that noise.
I kept the distressing to a moderate amount on these. I sanded down both pieces them went back over the details and knot holes to highlight them. The tops were in really good shape so I just wiped a light coat of hemp oil over them with a lint free cloth to minimize any tiny scuffs or scratches.
Two more for my Market Pile.
My living room is starting to look like a furniture storehouse……..only a lot less organized.
