I mentioned in my last post that I had been invited to be a vendor at Vintage Market Days Asheville. Since then I’ve been scouring Craig’s List and my local Facebook yard sale pages like the antidote is in them. Currently, we have to come and go through the front doors of our house because we can no longer walk through The Hell Hole. So I thinks it’s safe to say that I’ve been having pretty good luck finding pieces of furniture ( in my price range no less!) to take to that market. I am solely responsible for the large furniture that will be in our booth.
And I think I’m fine with that 😉
I found this piece on one of those FB yard sale pages and my palms immediately began to sweat. I had to have this thing. I had to have this thing and I don’t even know what it is! But for today, for the sake of this post be are calling it a chest.
A very nice man loaded it in to the back of my Jeep for me (it is way heavier that it looks) at 8:30 in the morning. I sped away like I’d stole it.
I chose to use Annie Sloan Old White on this piece specifically because of the carving at the bottom. I absolutely LOVE the way a really dark piece of furniture looks when distressed against Old White.
And it did not disappoint.
I am truly in love with this chest. I did sand the ever loving poop out of the entire thing with a fine girl sanding sponge.
It was fun!
I haven’t waxed/sealed it yet and I have to tell ya’ll that I may not. I think this piece will just look better and better as it wears. Lets just hope whoever takes it home feels the same way.
The bail pulls are from D. Lawless and they are The BOMB! I’ve used this exact pull before, also with Old White and I love how they look together. Here’s that link.

The price point doesn’t hurt either, $1.77 each.
I’m crapping y’all negative. Again.
Thank you so much for stopping in to see me!

Really nice transformation Paige. I’ve lost count how many pieces I’ve made over with Old White. Second in line if Duck Egg Blue. That’s a cool piece and I’m glad you found it and gave it a new life.
