Welcome to my new website!
You have arrived at southerncurated.com via a redirect from ajunkchicklife.blogspot.com and I am sooooooo glad you are here !
One year ago on a very cold and snowy day, very early in the morning as I sat in our living room in my feet pajamas in front of a fire I began this new journey. The first move that I made was to purchase my dot.com.
And I IMMEDIATLY wanted to take out a billboard so I could tell everyone I’ve EVER met.
I am very easily excitable 🙂
My next step was an easy and inexpensive one , which was a good thing because I was saving my money so that I would be able to actually hire someone to build the website of me dreams.
I purchased custom hang tags for my shop.
And then I painted and sewed and chalkboarded away until I felt like I could finally start to look around at web design companies that might be able to help make the dream I’ve had in my crazy little head a reality.
As I was visiting my own favorite blogs I began to make mental notes about what I really loved about these blogs that I visit on a regular basis. I also took note of who designed the sites. This is what led me to Restore 316. I fell stone, cold in love with their lovely feminine themes! Lauren and Lani have ever so patiently guided me through this process that has only taken a few weeks from start to finish.
For crazy little me it seemed like years.
I am very happy with the results and am learning WordPress much faster than I thought. It is VERY user friendly, even for dingbats! I plan on taking a class either virtually or locally here at our local community to really learn all of the ins and outs but I’m here to tell you that it is MUCH easier than Google Blogger! The big thing that forced my hand in terms of switching platforms from Blogger to WordPress was this:
I am a MAC girl.
And it was becoming increasingly evident that Google/ Blogger hates MAC.
Do a web search. There are whole forums devoted to people who are now unable to use Blogger on any Apple device. Now I am the Queen of the Workaround, and I even threw in the towel.
And I am fine with it 🙂
While I was waiting for my new website to be built, I missed blogging more than I ever thought would. There were days that I was miserable. Lucky for me I have a garage FULL of stuff to paint.
I found this cute little stool at Goodwill for $5. It’s newer and in perfect shape except for some chew marks on the legs. What made the chew marks? I hope a puppy.
Regardless, I had a plan.
I chose one of my all time favorite colors, Annie Sloan Provence. It is the most perfect turquoise ever made. Because the little stool was newer it still has a new, slick factory finish. This would have been a challenge for most decorative paints. But not Annie Sloan chalk paint. This stuff sticks to anything. Sticks & Covers Well.
and distresses beautifully.
I chose not to put a finish of any kind on this little piece. I really think it will just get prettier the more it wears.
Im pretty sure every girl needs one of these by her bathtub 🙂
You know……..to hold her towel.
Or a really nice glass of wine.
