On Friday night we got our first snowstorm of the year. In South Asheville where I live we woke up to about eight inches of beautiful, magical snow. I have not been able to take my eyes off of it all weekend! This is what Winter dreams are made of at our house. We never get out of our feety pajamas, cook like crazy, watch the NFL playoffs and take long, glorious naps.
And do lots of this.
This morning I felt particularly energetic and creative so I changed up the little homemade chalkboard that usually goes out on one of our porches. I had moved it in to our dining room for Thanksgiving and redid it simply for Christmas Eve.
I made this chalkboard by painting right over the glass in a picture frame that was in a stack of frames going to the dumpster at my office. I did not prime it. I just made sure it was clean , taped off the frame with painters tape and gave it two coats of Rustoleum black chalkboard paint. This chalkboard has held up perfectly. Actually, amazingly since our back porch is not at all covered:)
When I made my pre snowstorm trip to my neighborhood grocery I made sure to pick up some flowers to enjoy over the snowy weekend too.
I also, sadly put away my gingerbread man garland and made a new one for our eating area of our kitchen.
I found a package of brown craft paper hang/gift tags from the dollar bin at Michaels while I was cleaning out the drawers.
I also found a two pack of white paint pens I’d been looking for all of December.
I mentioned earlier that we both cook a lot when we are snowed in and I wanted to share a couple of the recipes we made and we really liked.

I got myself one of those Zoodle makers and this was the first recipe I tried. If you are a Pad Thai fan, this one is a winner.
With lows in the single digits here this weekend anything warm sounded good to me. I can think of a few variations on this recipe and feel like it will be in regular rotation at our house.
I hope that all of y’all are snug and warm in you part of the world. For once in my entire life I am actually hoping for warmer, dryer weather. I still have half of a China cabinet to get out of my Jeep!!!!
