Today was a perfect day.
It’s was cold and overcast. It really looked like it might snow. We stayed home all day in our feety pajamas, which I will NEVER get tired of and watched the Steelers game-
Which was played in the pouring SNOW!
In between laying around, holding a cat or two and deciding on the best nap time Big Daddy and I worked on our individual projects.
This was mine π
I had been piddling around all morning upstairs in our bedroom just adding a few suttle Christmas touches.
I had so enjoyed switching out a few things in our guest room that I decide to see what I could bring in to our bedroom.
The idea for the pillow cover came about when I could not find anything navy either in my stash of lumbar covers nor at any of the retails stores I’ve been in this Season.
This was my inspiration:
So, If you can’t find it?
Make it.
Here’s the supply list:
Plain pillow cover
(I made mine out of oatmeal colored linen)
Navy fabric
( I wanted navy felt but couldn’t find any)
Letters printed in Word
Chalk
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
I sewed my cover out of a scrap of linen that I had left over from another project. It has a simple envelope closure in the back. Next I printed out my letters in Word using Georgia at 500 point for the font.
I cut out the letters and used them as my pattern. I traced each one backwards (so that none of the chalk marks would show) on to my navy fabric and cut the letters out with really sharp, small scissors.
Next I layed out all of my letters on to the pillow cover and adjusted them until they were centered. When I was pretty happy with their placement I pressed the letters with a hot iron first and then hot-glued them securely to the cover. There were lots of little navy strings so I used a pair of nail clippers to get rid of those for a much cleaner edge on each letter.
When I was completely finished I pressed the entire cover to make SURE those letters were fixed in place.
Pretty cute π
Truly, all I did was add my new pillow and a few metallic ornaments.
Simple stuff.
Simple makes me happy π
