This post is sponsored by Velvet Finishes but as always the opinions are 100% my own .
I am very excited to tell y’all that I am one of the participants in the November Fab Furniture Flippin Contest!!!!!!
For those of you who may not know, The Fab Furniture Flippin Contest is a themed contest held monthly for bloggers who specialize in rehabbing furniture.
They had me at Furniture ๐
Our theme this month is
‘Colour Your World’
Each month the contest has a different sponsor. I feel like I really hit the jackpot when I was chosen as one of the 25+ participants when they announced our sponsor for November:
Velvet Finishes
Lord.
These colors!
Velvet Finishes graciously provided several of their fine products that I needed to turn this:
A piece I found on a Facebook Yard Sale page for $40,
in to this:
Now this thing was actually advertised as a ‘desk’. But I’m here to profess that it makes one nice Buffet!
First, I sanded what was left of the original finish off with my little orbital and discovered beautiful wood underneath all the dirt, grime and scratches.
Next I used my go to method for staining a wood top on anything and as soon as that top was good and dry I cracked open my very first Velvet Finishes product:
Enhance Gel – Timeless
I used a lint free cloth and wiped this finishing product with the grain, all over my stained wood top,
And went immediately back and wiped it off.
And I’m in love with the effect!
It gives my Buffet a subtle grayish Wash effect.
Who knew?
For the body of my Buffet I chose the color Luxurious which Velvet Finishes describes as,
‘The perfect neutral black’
Well in my opinion it is a rich, velvety ‘soft black’. Not at all inky or cheap looking.
It is truly Luxurious.
I reused the original drawer hardware because I really loved it. Sometimes you actually get lucky and find a piece with super cool original pulls ๐
After painting furniture for nearly three years, I’ve tried A LOT of one step type paints. This is really good paint with minimal brush strokes and an exceptional Black! Plus, it has little to no odor and cleans up with soap and water.
I’m so honored to be taking part in this contest! Please take time to visit each of our lovely hosts’ blogs at:

Your pieces are beautiful. I couldn't help but notice your beautiful milk glass lamps. Are they new?
monkeytails66@gmail.com says
Hi Marie! They are neither new nor milk glass. The are China and probably 1950's. I got them at a church yard sale for $3 each:)
