For what seems like the entire month of August, Big Daddy and I have been running in different directions.
And I’ve missed him terribly.
Now, after nearly 30 years together one would think we would welcome the break.
We do not.
We both feel incredibly fortunate and blessed to still prefer each other’s company to anyone else on this earth. So for the long Labor Day weekend we have retreated to a small cabin high in the mountains of Tennessee.
If we do not leave this porch for four days, it would suit me just fine.
When we opened the front door yesterday for the first time we were in love with the place.
It really is adorable (:
You know I love all of this pine and distressed black furniture!
Then there’s the loft upstairs.
And the view from up there.
Have a great Labor Day Weekend!

Paige,
I have been with my big Daddy for a few more years than you two, but we feel the same way! We are in our mid fifties, was not able to have children so it is just the two of us. We still love being together. Long ago many of our friends said we would not last, but we have outlast all of them, many are divorced!
I love your blog and your furniture make overs! Have a great weekend!
Blessings

My hubby and I also a little over 30 years together and still prefer to spend time together. His frat brothers never thought we'd make it a year and even had a pool going which I think we ought to go collect on! The cabin looks great and hope you had time to just unwind and enjoy each other's company.

The cabin is nice. But the view is fabulous. And my best friend is my husband of 46 years. Life could not be better than spending time together.

SO wonderful you were able to have labor day weekend together! My hubby and I went through something similar and were so relieved to also finally have a couple of days just for each other over labor day – we had to create the time though and it was so worth it! And I also wanted to mention that the Wednesday "To Grandma's House We Go" link party just started over at grandmashousediy.com and I thought you might be interested in joining it, thanks!
