Nine and three quarter times out of ten when I’m painting furniture it’s for other people. This time I’m painting something for us, something for our home.
Two something’s, actually
I’d been looking for a pair of Napoleon chairs like these for our kitchen table for almost two years. Every time I would come across them (second hand) they would be part of a set and I only wanted a pair. So it took awhile but I finally found that pair.
$10 each on Craigslist.
The rush seats were a bonus.
The second bonus was that the guy selling them actually delivered them to my office.
You can not beat that deal.
I was home alone last evening and I was just about to veg out with my IPad when I thought I might paint. . .
For just a little while.
Two hours and a craft beer later l was done:)
Then early this morning while it was still pretty cool, I took them both outside and went a little nuts with the sandpaper.
This is the dining area in our kitchen. We’ve had the table for 16 years. I refinished the top and painted the apron and legs black a few years ago so black was the natural choice for the new chairs.
This is gonna shock y’all.
Everything on this table top was thrifted:)
The aqua chair pads were another lucky score. I found them at Kirklands for $9.99!
They had a bunch of them, in red and aqua only.
Now I want to talk about these salad plates for a moment. I found these two at Goodwill for $2 each. You know, it does not take much at all to make this girl happy.
I’m in love with these plates!
They are from Pier One and they were part of a four piece set. I’m going on record right now:
I want those other two plates.
I’m missing the apple and the plumb. If anyone has them and would be willing to sell them or finds them please let me know.
This $2 silver shaker is my latest find. I’ll still be hunting the mate for it when The Rapture comes. The white Johnson Brothers platter was 50 cents at Habitat Restore. The green glass pitcher was a $4 Goodwill find a while back. It has really cool circles all in it.
Big Daddy came home today and went nuts over these black chairs. He loves them! God bless him, he is pretty resistant to change so I’m kind of a challenge.
Understatement of the year.

I love doing projects at night, too, as inspiration just sometimes happens then…..and a little liquid refreshments is always a bonus at that time. Love this space and can picture you two enjoying many happy meals there.
