You know, when I’m surfing Pintetest I go almost catatonic. I mean the house could burn down around me and I would never know it. I don’t think I’ve ever been so sucked in to anything in my life.
And it’s not just pretty pictures.
It’s research.
You can find ANYTHING you need and the instructions on how to do it.
Fact of buisness, most of my projects (see hair brained ideas) start after an hour or two on Pintetest.
Today’s example:
I’ve been seeing these glass sign things a lot in decor and I think they are pretty but this one I love ! I dug a little deeper and found a tutorial that looked pretty simple and decided to try and make my own. So the next day I ran in to Joann’s because they had texted me another really good coupon again when I found this on a Clearance rack:
I’ve never even heard of a Float Frame.
Apparently it’s a thing.
It’s actually two thinner pieces of glass that you sandwich an image between. I just liked the look of the frame.
And the price.
So I grabbed it and when I got home it suddenly dawned on me that I hadn’t gotten the other thing I needed.
A paint pen.
So I had to improvise.
Here’s my supply list that I thought of after the fact.
Frame with glass
Paint
Sandpaper
Chalk pen
(It’s all I had on hand)
I knew I would probably be hanging my sign out on our front porch so first I painted the gray frame white so it would distress nicely.
Then I printed out our last name in a font that I likened. After I got all of the stickers off the glass in this frame (God bless whoever invented Googone!)
I slid the paper under the glass and centered it.
I just traced the letters and then filled them in with the chalk pen. The rest of the design I freehanded.
You know the chalk pen was a complete accident but it worked perfectly. The cool part about the pen is if you mess up, it wipes right off with a paper towel.
Lucky for me!
I could also change this thing at will. I was thinking it would be pretty cute around Thanksgiving and Christmas too.
Lots of possibilities with this one !

As someone who has just realised it's 11.15 on a Sunday morning and not about 9am which I thought it was – all because of pinterest, I totally agree!
Your sign is so lovely, isn't it great when you can improvise and use what you have on a project and get such great results?

Just want to add that I'm in the UK hence the time on my comment doesn't match the time my watch says – I'm not completely loosing the plot!
