Another One From The Archaeological Dig

Good Lord, that garage.

Big Daddy and I spent half a day on Saturday cleaning and organizing The Hell Hole. I did it under great protest. All I wanted to do was get some sun! And just to clarify, there is no sun in our garage:(

So while I was out there for half a day, I unearthed a few more treasures I’d forgotten about. So I continue to do as I was asked and work through it.

I found eight big, chunky candle sticks, in eight different places.

So Sunday afternoon I selected $7 worth (three. They still had the price tags on them) to give a little makeover.

LOTS of lovely details in these !

All three are dark finished wood and all I could think about was layering colors on and distressing them carefully enough to show each layer.

Something slightly coastal

I stated with a good coat of Annie Sloan Provence. I love this color. It is the most beautiful turquoise ever.

Then a layer of white

And I slowly, deliberately began to distress all of those curves. I used a damp paper towel to clean off all the dust from the sanding and sealed all three with clear wax.
