I work smack dab in the middle of Downtown Asheville, and I LOVE it! Weird as it is, I. Love. It. When I married Big Daddy twenty six years ago we lived in a tiny townhouse in downtown Asheville and I just fell in love with the city. Now, mind you Asheville was nowhere near as cool as it is today. Downtown was pretty much a pit, but we could not have cared less. We were newly married , fresh out of college and broke. The rent downtown was dirt cheap so that’s where we, and all of our also broke friends lived. It was pretty much us, our broke friends and the prostitutes.
My family thought I’d moved to Hell.
It’s funny how things change.
Now , you have to be a Rockefeller to live downtown.
Or a Vanderbilt.
Four days a week I drive through Biltmore Village, pick up my coffee at Brueggers and right by the entrance to the Biltmore Estate to get to my office. Certain times of the year the full moon is right above the gatehouse when I pass and it is mesmerizing.
This time of year I’m watching for something else that is also mesmerizing, and yesturday was the day.
Christmas at Biltmore begins early, about the first week of November when they bring in the Big Tree for the dining room. If you’ve never seen the house at Christmas, it is unbelievable. Biltmore Villiage is also dressed for Christmas and covered in white lights.
But in my opinion the gatehouse is Best In Show!
Every time
Have a great weekend!

We've visited the Biltmore a few times, including for Christmas once! You are blessed to enjoy this sight so frequently. We were downtown about 3 years ago, I believe. Enjoyed the artsy atmosphere!
