After another hard week at my day job I am sooooo ready for Friday. It’s been pretty much work -home-bed for weeks. I am craving something on the creative side of life.
After I got my house cleaned and the laundry done today I stepped out to the garage (AKA the Rat Hole) to sort of prowl around and see what I could get into. I gotta tell y’all, it’s pretty sparse out there. I’ve been on a rather dry streak as of late when it comes to furniture.
I did score this cute Ethan Allen sideboard from a longtime patient of mine. She just wanted it out of her barn and I was happy to oblige. When we unloaded it from the Jeep we figured out it’s going to need quite a bit of work.
That maple top did sand off beautifully! I’ll figure out the rest.
I’ve done the thrift store circuit for two weeks now and struck out in the furniture department every time. I did find a couple of cool things today though.
An ironstone sugar jar
This is the cutest little thing! I’ve been on the prowl for a lidded something for my bedside table to hold some of my crap than lands there and ultimately ends up as a cat toy. Think hair twisty, ear plugs and Chapstick.
And the matching creamer
I have a little white creamer/pitcher collection you would not believe. I use them for everything from gravy to salad dressing to a toothbrush holder in my bathroom. Plus, I love to line them down the middle of my dining room table with flowers or even just greenery at Christmas. It was half price day on all blue price tags.
$4 for both!
Tomorrow I’m headed to Ikea in Charlotte with one of my favorite playmates, my aunt Wanda. My plan is to come home with a loveseat!
Let’s hope the box fits in my Jeep.
